There were some discussions about water bottles when I was in a meeting some time ago. This was particuarly on the types of plastics suitable for water bottles.
On the web, there are some info saying some water bottles, esp. the polycarbonate ones (7 in the recycling classification mark) having carcinogenic substances.

Some other website said that the carcinogenic substance is "urban myth" / "hoax".
